P.A.R.T.Y.:  Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth

                             Thursday, January 15th at 7:15pm

                                  Multi-Purpose Room

                            Parents & Students Welcome!

P.A.R.T.Y. Program Mission:  To promote injury prevention through reality education, enabling youth to recognize risk and make informed choices about activities and behaviors.

Trauma Facts

  • 45% of all injuries are alcohol related which leaves more than half, 55% that are caused by some other means of trauma
  • By the time teens are in Middle School they have already established and formed opinions about risk.
  • Driving habits begin in Elementary School – watching how their parents drive.
  • Teens have already been exposed to alcohol and other drugs, while others are using drugs at an early age.

The Bulldog eBash – February 27th

This popular, annual event is our main money maker of the year.

The Bulldog eBash will be on Friday, February 27, 2009, at the Folsom Community Center.  Invitations will be mailed to all Folsom High School parents in early January.  Gourmet dinner, live music and dancing, on-line silent auction(new this year), and rollicking live auction make this a great evening for a great cause!

High profile sponsorships give businesses a highly effective way to reach this active Folsom community. If you want sponsorship information or wish to donate an auction item, contact Donna at thompsons5@sbcglobal.net

All proceeds are designated for Academic Divisions, the library and student clubs.

Teacher Appreciation – TBA

In appreciation of our wonderful teachers, the PTSA traditionally honors all of our teaching staff during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Depending on the volunteer’s own ideas, teachers typically receive delectable treats and special recognition throughout the week.

Senior Breakfast – May 28, 2009

Sober Grad Night – May 28, 2009

Folsom High seniors experience the most amazing party of their high school experience during the Senior Graduation Party known as Sober Grad Night.  PTSA volunteers and local businesses combine their resources to create the kind of setting, entertainment, food and  activities to make this a once in a lifetime senior experience.  If you would like to be involved with this event, contact  Eileen Smith, ekelleysmith@yahoo.com

 


Staff Breakfast –   May 29, 2009                                                             

This popular, annual event is a tradition among the Folsom High staff.  PTSA volunteers cater this breakfast and provide the staff required to produce the event.  During the event, the PTSA presents the Honorary Service Award, as well as, other special recognition.  To be involved with the staff breakfast, contact Donna Thompson, thompsons5@sbcglobal.net

PTSA Scholarships

Every year, the PTSA awards scholarships to qualifying senior students whose academic achievements and service to the community distinguish them as well deserving recipients.  For the 2007-08 school year, we awarded a total of $2000 to 4 separate senior students. Student Leadership

Each year, one student is appointed to represent the students on the PTSA Board.   The student is responsible for attending the board meetings, contributing information about important class activities, providing feedback in response to board issues and in general, participating in PTSA activities.  To learn about student leadership positions contact Mr. Greg Crannell,  Student Activities Director, gcrannel@fcusd.k12.ca.us.

Reflections Competition

  Show-April 23, 2009   Theme "WOW"

  This national PTA competition begins at Folsom High School and encourages our students to submit works of art in these six arts areas: Literature, Dance Choreography, Film/Video Production, Musical Composition, Photography and the Visual Arts.
